Manufacturing

We manufacture railbound manganese insert, self guarded frogs, and manganese crossings. Donovan EDH and Trackwork Solutions, Inc. can finish your supplied RBM insert, SMG, or crossing casting or furnish complete finish castings ready for assembly in your shop or shipped directly to your customer. AREMA, transit, or customer specific requests are not a problem for our years of trackwork manufacturing experience.

Explosive Depth Hardening and the Donovan Process

Donovan EDH and Trackwork Solutions, Inc. is the leader in the explosive depth hardening industry. Based upon decades of knowledge and experience, the Donovan process has been developed into the safest, most reliable EDH process available. The Donovan process incorporates the use of the patented Donovan Blast Chamber, which allows hardening operations to take place in an enclosed blast containment unit. Unlike many open-air or submerged processes, the Donovan process protects the product and workers from the environment, allowing continuous operation all-year around. Also, containment of the detonations protects the environment from noise and contaminates common in open-air and submerged processes. Dye penetrant testing for surface flaws and cosmetic weld repair is also available on site, making Donovan EDH and Trackwork Solutions, Inc. the one-stop shop for manganese casting processing.

CNC Machining Equipment and CNC Controls

Donovan EDH and Trackwork Solutions, Inc. utilize modern machine tools equipped with CNC controls for quality, repeatablility, and efficiency. Large capacity machines, retrofitted to handle the unforgiving task of manganese removal, are capable of accomodating the largest of track components. Our machines were retooled specifically for manganese trackwork machining by expert manufacturing engineers with experience in the trackwork field. All manufacturing engineering, tooling, and CNC part programming is done in house by our experienced staff.

Reclaim Castings

As an alternative option to purchasing a new casting, Donovan EDH and Trackwork Solutions, Inc. can rebuild and remachine your existing casting to extend the life at a fraction of the cost of a new casting. Once only an option for smaller, low tonnage turnouts, reclaim castings are finding their way into Class I use with great results and huge cost savings. Existing castings can be rebuilt with material stronger than the original manganese and Explosive Depth Hardened to original hardness if desired.
